Golden Hour Adventures: A Family Photoshoot in Chelmsford

Family Photoshoot in Chelmsford. The family are tickling on the rug

I recently had the pleasure of photographing Sam and Brody with their two gorgeous girls during a golden hour family photoshoot in Chelmsford. Set in the countryside on the edge of Chelmsford. The session felt more like an evening of family fun than anything formal—exactly how I love it.

We explored the area with a mix of playful energy and quiet connection. The girls were in their element—racing through natural hedge archways, taking turns on a tree swing, and cuddling up with cosy blankets in between. At one point, we paused on a hilltop where the warm golden light wrapped around them like a storybook scene.

A Family Photoshoot in Chelmsford with a Natural Flow

The youngest was a little shy at first and stuck close to mum, which is always okay in my book. These sessions are designed to unfold at each child’s pace, and before long she was chasing her sister, singing songs, and throwing giggles into the breeze.

What stood out most was the family’s lovely bond—whether they were cuddled close under a big blanket or running wild across the field. There was so much affection and fun woven into every moment. As always, I just followed their lead and captured the magic as it unfolded.

Why Outdoor Sessions Like This Are So Special

Sessions like this family photoshoot in Chelmsford are more than just taking pictures—they’re about making space for families to connect, laugh, and enjoy each other. These are the memories that matter: the big smiles, the quiet hugs, the muddy knees and windswept hair.

And golden hour? It gave everything that gorgeous honeyed glow that makes these moments feel even more timeless.
