There’s something extra special about an in-home newborn session this weeks was situated just outside of Colchester. Stepping into a family’s home during those precious early weeks feels like entering a little love bubble—and this session was no exception.
On the lead up to the shoot I had been walking to this lovely mum over email and after having to rescedule once due to the little one being poorly I was extremely excited to meet them all. From the moment I arrived, this lovely family welcomed me so warmly. It was such a joy hearing about their early weeks of parenthood—the ups, the surprises, the new routines. Watching their connection with their beautiful baby daughter unfold through my lens was a real privilege.

Including the Whole Family (Yes, Even the Dog!)
One of the highlights of this in-home newborn session in Colchester was including the family’s gorgeous dog in a few of the photos. She was so gentle and curious—clearly already protective of her tiny new best friend. I always love when pets are part of the story; they’re such an important part of the family too.

We captured relaxed moments in the living room, cosy cuddles on the bed, and little in-between scenes that are often the most meaningful. It’s less about perfect posing, and more about preserving real connection—those instinctive glances, tiny fingers holding tight, and the quiet wonder of new life.
Why Choose an In-home Newborn Session?
Sessions at home offer a calm and comfortable setting, especially in those early days. There’s no need to pack a bag or worry about getting out the door. Everything you need is right there—whether that’s a change of clothes, a snack break, or just a moment to pause.

These sessions are totally baby-led, which means we go at your pace. Need to stop for a feed? No problem. Want to cuddle on the sofa while I document it all? Perfect. The goal is to make your session feel relaxed and authentic.
This session is a beautiful example of what we can create together—a series of moments that feel true to your early family story.
